Exactly a week ago, I was ten minutes into my Opera North debut with Cautionary Tales!  I had a phone call on Thursday evening to say that Katherine (the soprano I was covering) was unwell and wasn't sure whether she would be able to perform at the Friday matinee...  Six hours later (after a ridiculous train journey), I was checking into the hotel near Thoresby, and the following morning, I was given the news that she couldn't sing a note and so I was on!

I'm happy to report it went almost without glitch, and the other cast members, conductor, band and technical team were all incredibly supportive, for which I am very grateful.

I'm not sure I need another morning as stressful as that for a little while, but it was good fun, that's for sure!

Following her debut with the company in Autumn 2011, Lorna is delighted that Heritage Opera have asked her to return for their Summer and Autumn 2012 seasons.

Summer sees Lorna's first step into the 'trouser role' repertoire, playing Cherubino in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.  She will also be covering the role of Countess Almaviva.

In Autumn, Lorna will be performing the role of Musetta in Puccini's classic opera La Boheme.
